The past has accumulated

The past has accumulated

There's nothing to do but honor the creation

That is you right now

The you right now as you read this

The you without labels

What purpose in condemning?

You're in the starting gate

Use the power gained

Use the wisdom gained

Feel your readiness and push off

Do It Anyway

DO IT ANYWAY

Written By Mother Theresa

People are often unreasonable, illogical,
and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, People may accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some
false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If  you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone
could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis,

it is between you and God;

It was never between you and them anyway

Out the door

For awhile my spirit has been suggesting "hiking at dawn".  It's possible because I'm close to beautiful hiking without getting into the car and because I'm usually awake at dawn.  Instead of condemning myself for not once yet doing this (my usual brain pattern that I am breaking today), I am relaxing into knowing that for right now, for reasons unknown....before the walk comes coffee and reading something inspirational (or writing or just enjoying my coffee and existence on this planet today.  Now I'm out the door and may your day be filled with amusement at the craziness swirl around you.

Letting go

"Letting go a little improves life.  Letting go a lot brings happiness and joy."  Jim McGregor

This week I discovered Cali's Natural Foods, a small organic grocery store by Costco.  The owners own Sage's and Vertical Diner.  Vertical Diner is next on my To Discover List!  The day my son and I visited Cali's a farmer had just dropped off freshly popped from the ground carrots---you know, the really gnarly looking ones that taste soooo sweet?  Also had an outrageous brownie.  I've been wanting to try mung beans so bought some of those.  They have organic wheat flour from Lava Hot Springs, ID.  Lots of interesting vinegars, oils, spices.  Read their blog and you'll want to run over and buy coconut oil.

Another weekend food experience: At Whole Foods I tasted (and bought) Noosa yogurt from Boulder, CO.  Very wonderful. I recommend the honey flavored one but they were all excellent.

Conjoyment

I'm reading the Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner.  He invents the word Conjoyment, a word for the melding of joy and contentment.  Though the word doesn't flow for me rhythmically, I do love the concept.

Contentment is: all is well in this very moment.  Joy is appreciating my aliveness in this moment.  I get to do this instead of I have to do this.  Choosing, being, appreciating.

He also says that all languages have far more words for unpleasant emotional states than pleasant.  As I have suspected, it's human nature to spend more time noticing our worries than when we're peacefully in the moment with birds and trees and stars.  The experiment is to stretch into, love and repeat over and over images of joy.  Images of joy like kids playing, dogs playing, rainbow bouquets of tulips, a hug.  The experiment is to remember and accept the compliments 85 times more than the criticisms.
